Artist description Currently a Four-Piece Band which writes, records and performs original music. LAST TRIBE NYC embodies the essence of "urban soul". The New York City melting pot is where this multi-ethnic and sonically diverse band call home. Last Tribe NYC calls its style "Urban Tribal Funk"; a streamlined sound that echoes NYC's groove itself. Funk, latin, reggae, rock, soul: it's all in there to make a tasty stew. This concept is the driving force is behind the Tribe's musical approach and became the title of the band's first CD.

Artist History Summer 1996: LAST TRIBE NYC is founded by Jason A. Rosen and Rolando R. Rosado; LAST TRIBE NYC reflects both Jason and Rolando's musical interests and philosophy. October 9th, 1996: First public performance - Pyramid Club (East Village, NYC). Mid-December 1996: First recordings for Debut CD - URBAN TRIBAL FUNK; among the initial recordings were the rhythm tracks for "Everything Funky" & "Lower Than Dirt". Winter & Spring 1997: Last Tribe NYC performs regularly in Greenwich Village. October 1997: URBAN TRIBAL FUNK is released. Years 1998 & 1999: The band is downsized from the original seven members to four and the sound refined to suit the smaller unit. Band begins performing in New York & New Jersey clubs and begin working on follow up CD - MOFONGO IN DA' JUNGLE. Band members for MOFONGO IN DA' JUNGLE are: JASON ROSEN: Guitar, Lead Vocals, Harmonica. ROLANDO ROSADO "El Cacique Del Tumbao": Conga, Bongo, Vocals, Misc. Percussion. MICHAEL "Big Daddy" NORDBERG: Bass, Vocals. YU OJIMA: Drums, Timbale, Misc. Perc.. January 2000: MP3 webpage is launched. May 2000: Recordings for the new CD are completed. July 2000: SHINYA MIYAMOTO replaces YU OJIMA (who returns to Japan)on Drums, Timbale and Misc. Perc. February 2001: MONFONGO IN DA' JUNGLE is released. 2001 to Present: Still laying down the groove with much AUTHORITY and selling CDs at a club near you - baby!
