SPIRIT 2 SPIRIT
The driving force behind Spirit 2 Spirit are two brothers, Michael and
Denny Jenkins. Together the two have over 50 years of musical experience.
Michael plays Bass, Keyboards, and Percussion. He has done lead and
background vocals. He is a musical, vocal, lyrical writer, arranger
personified, as well as a technical engineer whose creativity in digital
recording is unequaled. His ability to get the best out of an individual
(not limited to musical or vocal artists) permits him to meet the
challenge all producers face in creating a viable product loved and
cherished by the general public, as well as revered and respected by
those in the industry.
Denny, by design, is a percussionist who uses the keyboards to enhance
his song writing ability. His strength lie in his lyric writing, and
arrangements, and he sings lead and background vocals. He is a
published poet who whishes to perform, and produce and remain
humble and modest in spite of the hype often associated with success
in the musical industry. He wants most of all to make a contribution to
Gods creation that in some way helps in the healing process .. to share
with anyone willing to listen.
The brothers have a musical background wherein their father, Thomas
Jenkins helped form, manage, and sing for the Gospel Quartet " THE
MIGHTY SOUTHERN ECHOES “of Washington D.C. The groups name was
retired in 1999 by Mr. Jenkins after 48 years of praising our Lord God in
music and in faith. Michael and Denny were also blessed with the opportunity to play with their
Father’s group a couple of years before it’s retirement, and decided to
continue his legacy through SPIRIT 2 SPIRIT
The oldest Brother Thomas Jenkins Jr. also works with the group by
way of song writing, vocal arrangements and tracks.
.
We of faith believe all things belong to God...
We know of his GREATNESS and know everything acheived in our musical endeavors have been crafted and guided by and through him.
To our father be all the praise...
Seek ye first the kingdom of Heaven and all things shall be added Unto You...

Press Reviews
Prince George's Times Review: DC's Newest Gospel Sensation—SPIRIT 2 SPIRIT“Working for the Lord” with “MESSAGE MUSIC”As young boys, these guys were introduced to music practically before they were born. Several members of the group are sons of one of this area’s renowned Gospel singers, Mr. Thomas Jenkins, Sr., who is formerly of “The Mighty Southern Echoes”. This new group, “Spirit 2 Spirit”, was formed from The Mighty Southern Echoes, and has their same commitment to get God’s message to the people. Using a combination of old standards and original tunes, they make you glad to hear the message they so beautifully sing. One of the group’s founding members, Denny Jenkins, wrote most of the original tunes on this fabulous new CD. The original music is insightful but not “preachy”, and will have you singing right along with them. The group is made-up of some of the area’s best musicians and vocalists. All members of this versatile group play keyboards, and some members play other instruments such as bass guitar, violin, tuba, and trumpet, just to name a few. They have been together, in varying combinations, for well over twenty years. In that time they have played with some of the area’s best known bands, including “Little Royal , the Junkyard Band, Prospect, Possession Band, Roy C’s Band and Show and, of course, The Mighty Southern Echoes. Most of these guys have had instruments in their hands and a song in their heart since childhood. As Michael Simon, the group’s Drummer/Percussionist said to me “I like helping people, and this music is going to help people hear our Lord speak”. Although these are very spiritual men, they have all been exposed to the other side of life. They have all experienced something of the dark side of life. That is the side that makes you turn towards God, and make something of your life. The members of the group, are: Michael Jenkins—who writes, arranges, plays keyboards, bass guitar and provides background vocals; Denny Jenkins—Denny writes, plays percussion instruments and does lead and background vocals; Ricky Burns—who writes ,plays keyboards and does lead and background vocals; Curtis Day—who writes, plays guitar and keyboard, provides lead and background vocals; Tim Wells—plays guitar, keyboards, and does lead and background vocals; Tony Carr—plays lead guitar, keyboards, and does background vocals; James Marshall—does lead and background vocals; and, last, but not least, Michael Simon—who plays drums and percussion instruments, and sings lead and background vocals. Look to hear from these guys in a BIG way really soon. You will love this new CD called, simply, “FRIEND”. Ask for it at your church, your favorite radio station, or local music shop. For further information on how to have them at your church or how obtain their new CD, call Denny Jenkins at 301-568-5336 or call James Marshall at 301-927-5653 |
