    Artist History
I guess I was into music almost even before I was born (October 21, 1960) since my Mom sang some opera while I was brewing. Can't say I recall it, though. As I went through the early years, I sang in just about every school choir and vaguely recall some big church recital we were in... quite a while ago ! The next big phase was that all my sisters (4 of them) and my brother displayed singing ability and some could even play guitar. My brother, Dave, was probably the biggest influence on me in regard to music as he was the typical (or a-typical ?) musician in the 60's. He played for many bands including The Checkers, The Marshmellow Soup Group, Lou Curtain Soul Review, Merge, Jumbo, Harry Young and Company and James Leroy and Denim (in the 70's)... to name the few I can remember. I often went to bed while the bands were downstairs just wailing away ! Must of had SOME influence, I'm sure !Once I hit high school, my interest in music was almost as high as my interest for the fairer sex ! But it wasn't until my senior years that we actually tried forming bands within the school. The first band I was in we called Entropy and consisted of six or seven neighbourhood kids who mostly hung around a nearby park. This was followed by my first, and only, "school" band which we called Voyage, in the 1975-1978 time range. Once we started getting out of high school, the band kinda fell apart as we all pursued other goals.I spent several years trying to be satisfied with a domestic roll but it just wasn't to be and, in around 1985 or 1986, I started playing with many musicians around Ottawa/Hull and then joined the band Once Again (1985-1989). We played various successful and disasterous gigs always at a loss to my pocketbook so you could imagine I was kind of relieved myself when I was told they wanted me out of the band. I played with a couple of other bands, firstly Hindsight (1992) then Rough House (1993) but various factors soon led to their demise as well.At that point, I started preparing for a solo effort around 1994 and called myself "Ron Oslund and Grey Box" when I played at the Little Rock Cafe. Grey Box was actually the Alesis MMT-8 midi sequencer I used in my act and was, for all intense purposes, my band !However, my solo efforts were not to be long lived for in late December, 1994, I received a phone call from a friend that I met through one of the previous bands and she suggested I meet her new boyfriend, John, a very excellent guitarist. I met John Corrigan and, shortly there after, drummer Sylvain Seguin. This, then, was the beginnings of Rosy Jo. Sylvain had different ideas about recording even though we had some of the latest consumer digital recording gear available to us (Tascam DA-88, Roland VS-880). Still he was unmoved by the desires of the rest of the band to record something and, in June of 1998, he left Rosy Jo to pursue other avenues. The rest of this story is, as they say, history !!!!I have a really good feeling about my band, Rosy Jo, but I have recently been working on a few solo recording projects as well and just wanted them out there for all to see ! Let me know what you think !
