Artist History
We at Mediacore have dedicated ourselves to creating a distinctexperimental music and performance presence in Vancouver since 1998, andhave channelled the psychic trauma of this odyssey into our release (anda soap opera called "Day of Cheap Bars" that is to air in the fall 2000season). Featuring over 30 minutes of audio that can be played on astandard CD player, over an hour of MP3 audio, and 8 minutes of video,v1.0 is a good time in the guise of a coaster-like shiny piece ofplastic. |

Press Reviews
Here is what some others have had to say about v1.0:"True underground electronics compilation, covering all the bases fromharsh noise to ambient to speedcore to idm, all from the land thatbrought us David Cronenburg, i.e. Canaduh. This is an enhanced cd, wherethere is a large amount of audio in mp3 format, and about half an hour'sworth in traditional audio cd format. It features tracks from Clone,Error 404, Seedy, Cyclic v.s. Gendai, Musikill, Crazy Dave, Windowshade, and Bad Feng Shui. There is a great deal of incredible material on here, for only $6 ppd! The highlights include the opening ambient track fromClone, the epic "God Loves the Little Collaborators" by Bad Feng Shui, and the Musikill live sets (in mp3 format.) There is a wealth of goodmusic on this cd, and as such I must highly recommend supporting thismusic collective." -Anthony Saunders, Assume Power Focus Webzine, Merzbow & DIY politicslist admin"Been waiting for this. Those of you who have been into thenoise/industrial/hardcore scene out in Vancouver have probably heard ofMediacore’s projects. Usually intense and weird nights attended by noisefreaks, few in number but dedicated in spirit. Recently they seemed tohave consolidated in an effort to purge the world of music throughnoise. Here’s part of their effort. I plug in and await synapticresponses. First: industrial ambient openings. Second, syncopated, experimental dnb’ that makes eyelids flutter. All very bleepy by Error404. Third, reorganised feedback in some sort of drum loop. I think. Atthis point, I wax and oil my new weapon. Fifth installment reinserts theorganised dnb. Tech-step, really. The sixth completely reinverts me—Tower of Dfunct. “Now you are threatening legal action,” the CD tellsme. Oh. Whoops. IDM inserts my orifice. I like it. The seventh sealwhich I gather is Fukkered is the most distorted piece of distortionever. Neat, aggressive. But I’ve heard that one before. Still makes meload bullets, though. I pull out the Unabomber manifesto. What followsis 500BPM Love. Speedcore that echoes in and out with high-pitchedsounds. I manically spray the neighbourhood with bullets. Spent ammo isleft down the street. God Loves is next, by Bad Feng Shui, the sameartist that did Tower…. I like this. Well done. The CD ends with moreindustrial ambient, a la Clone who also did the opening track. I go homeand drink my corporate Coke. Remember kids, don’t do this at home! Forthe rest of us, keep the noise coming. My mouth is open."-Tobias, Discorder magazine, CiTR fm, technoWest, ST Collective "INSANE SHIT! I love it... especially the two quicktime files and thelike... nice variety of music" -Acid Enema, Scatology Records "I loved the music...something that would sit in [my] cd player at homefor months on end"-Skinner, Black Monolith Records, gabber & darkstep list admin |
