Artist description
A singer/songwriter and a storyteller, Gary writes lyrics that resonate with his audience, much like Dan Fogelberg and Jackson Browne. Singing "... the kids are all half grown now...", beckoning his listeners to realize just how precious time and family really are. Add richly layered guitar and heart felt lyrics for music that speaks to the heart and the soul of the listener. By connecting to the audience through song and conversation, Gary feeds the listener a healthy serving of sobering realism and believable fantasy. Now add truly inspired acoustic guitar playing, this music transcends normal boundaries and leaves the fans on their feet screaming for more, More, MORE.Industry executives at Music Row in Nashville have compared Gary to artists ranging from Hootie and The Blowfish to Bob Dylan. Since he didn't fit into any Nashville's traditional country "slots", Gary decided to try the down home approach. An acoustic/eclectic mix of story telling and powerful music as diverse as it is entertaining, this music is enjoyed by people who like rock, pop, ska, country blues and jazz. "We all have a calling in life, mine is to entertain, that's when I'm most alive" and it shows in the warm crowd responses.Touring locally while promoting globally is the plan for now. Gary encourages fans to "take him home with them" (in a virtual sense) via the Internet and free MP3 downloads, as well as the more traditional sales of tapes & CDs. |

Artist History
Since age 5 when he heard his first Beatles tune, Gary has known why he was placed on this planet. His parents couldn't get him to be quiet in the car at 65 MPH on annual summer vacations. It took him another seven years to convince them he was serious about the guitar and in 1972 he got his first lesson. Continuing his music education, Gary was elected to attend the University of Tennessee in 1975 for a recorded performance of Handell's Messiah with a choir of over 200 other hand picked applicants from all over the world. Gary took honors at State competition in Men's Barbershop Quartet in 1976 and 1977 and was named to Who's Who in High School Music those same years. Gary has played special events, parties outdoor arenas and nightclubs all around Georgia since the mid '70s. Gary's band "Fury" backed up Stillwater in 1979 at an amusement park opening, other bands include: Nomad, Fury, Mama Tried, The Asbury Flagship and most recently, Limited Access. Currently Gary is a true one-man show, handling his own management & production company (Limited Access Entertainment) while performing as a solo act. |

Press Reviews
"... "catchy" rock songs pleasing to the ear ... These are songs keeping the melody and lyrics in the focus, like they should be - and the guitar playing is exquisite (I hope I got that word right - my English vocabulary sometimes fails me...)! Strong, heartfelt lyrics, and decent vocals - fine songs!! A solid effort, your experience shows through quite well - good arrangements; not overdone (although I'd like to hear this with some more musicians involved, just my opinion). Solid work!!""... just downloaded and listened to 'ecolution'. what a moving song. i know you are going to think i'm nuts, but i kept trying to place who the vocals reminded me of - and suddenly i realized - ozzy osbourne! don't laugh - if you've ever listened to him actually 'sing' he has a great voice. i'm also guessing that john lennon is your favorite of the beatles? i like the guitar, the music was dramatic and melancholy - without being too dreary at the same time. i enjoyed this very much." "The lyrics to Family Tree are awesome, congrats, you got a winner son. Just remember the little people when you are seating there chatting with the Paul Ankas of the world. They always say to sing and write about something that we have or know About, and the Family Tree is something we all have, somewhere..................." (Family Tree)"Excellently written and performed! One of Gary P. Alexander's finest works." (Questions Worth Asking)" ... very good songs. Your voice, vocal effects, and singing style remind me a lot of Lennon." (Ecolution & Questions Worth Asking)"cool acoustic sound ... real nice""Reckless is a loose acoustic rock song. Vocals are good. Again you have interesting lyrics...""...listened to Questions Worth Asking - sounds like Dylan or Tom Petty vocals. |
