Artist History
Originally from Phoenix, AZ, DC now calls the Triad of North Carolina home - settling just outside of High Point in the Archdale/Trinity area.
Known mostly as "the keyboard player" for several local bands, DC has performed on nearly every stage in the central NC club scene in his 20-some-odd
year music career. In that time, he added his vocal, keyboard, and guitar talents to all types of music from Rock to Beach/Top40 to Country, from back-street
bars to outdoor festival venues.
Somewhat unusual in the Country music genre, DC creates his music in the "new-age" digital realm using a combination of MIDI sequencing, keyboards, and guitars.
Yet he keeps true to his Country roots and the Country legacy: real stories, real people, real emotions. His songs come from a mix of personal experiences and
from watching others (his second-favorite hobby!).
In 1996, DC caught the attention of an independent (indie) record label through a talent contest held by Crystal Talent out of Nashville, TN. Through that label,
he released his first CD - a two-song demo - in early 1997, which basically went nowhere.
After many unsuccessful attempts, another indie label, RMCMA Records out of Colorado, put the same two tracks on their multi-artist compilation CD being sent abroad.
Since his association with RMCMA, DC has released 3 CDs, and created his own label and music production company, 7City Productions. He has enjoyed radio airplay in Europe,
Canada, and especially Australia, where his popularity continues to grow in those markets. He has been listed in the DCDJA Top-100 Most-Played Independent Artists, along
with IndieTracker Magazine's Top-300 Worlwide Most-Played Artists (Indie/Major). He is a proud member of the Colorado (CCMA) and North Carolina (NCCMA) Country Music Association(s),
and he has been featured on the NCCMA's local Greensboro television show "The Sue Hiatt Show".
In March of 2001, DC (and several RMCMA artists) were invited to attend the 4th Annual North American Country Music Associations. Intl. (NACMAI) Awards competitions and cermony held
at the Louise Mandrell Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN. At the end of the week-long activities, DC brought home three (3) NACMAI awards: "Rising Star/Songwriter/New Country",
"Horizon/Instrumentalist/New Country", and due to a last-minute substitution, he shares in a "Vocal Group of the Year/Traditional Country" with Ted Keith and Backwoods Creek.
(as a side note: the seven (7) RMCMA artists brought home a total of 10 Awards!!)
In June 2001, DC and wife Sandra both brought back awards from the CCMA show! Two of the
songs they co-wrote ("Picture Album" and "2 Different Mirrors") placed 1st and 2nd for Co-Writer
Awards. DC also brought back 3 New Country Awards: "Male Vocalist", "Instrumentalist", and
"Songwriter (What Do I Do?)".
His latest CD, "Picture Album" includes the award-winning songs "The Game" and "What Do I Do?"
(which, ironically, were the two songs on the first "failed" CD!), and also includes songs co-written
by his award-winning wife, Sandra. It is available through RMCMA, 7City, or DC's website(s), and will soon be in selected Triad area vendors. |

Press Reviews
D.C has a good style and voice, I like his music because he sounds like D.C. Sayner, he isn't trying to sound like someone else, the only song...that sounds like anyone else is "I Love You, Goodbye", and it does sound like Floyd Cramer, but that ain't bad, and he openly admits that it was inspired by Floyd.- Barry Adair, PureDamnTexas.com
DC Sayner's soft voice is damn impressive. He exercises a lot of control over the wistful inflections that accompany these tender country ballads and love songs.- Listen.com
With a sound and style that is true country and totally his own,DC Sayner will speak to your heart through his music.- My Kind Of Country (www.mkoc.com) |
