Artist description
We are a multi-instrumental, fully improvisational duo, featuring the sounds of acoustic drums and electric bass, as well as turntables, synth, percussion, and electronic triggers. We have two basic modes: beat and ambient. When we groove, we get down, laying it out over some serious cosmic noise. When we space out, you ain't gonna hear nothin but pure consciousness, baby...... |

Artist History
The history of the rhythm section goes back about five years, but the first incarnation of Zyklus II began in the spring of 1998, then known as The Joint Chiefs. We started out with the same ideals, but we had four members. After a while, interests changed, and we quickly became a two-piece by late summer 1998. That is when Zyklus II (named after a Stockhausen piece) was born. We saw much more musical freedom and creative potential in a duo, and we undertook even more resopnsibilities, both playing more than one instrument live. By the fall of 1998, we had developed our style enough to play out, which we did and were received very well locally. At the present, we released our own CD, and plan to take our live show on the road. |
