Press Reviews
MTV online review (www.MTV.com) by Scott Beasley, MTV College Stringer November 18, 1998"A Bigger, Better BOOTY"(BOOTY Gets a Few Nips and Tucks)Well, it's been quite a long time since I last heard from THE MAGICAL ATTRACTION OF BOOTY. The band's name alone makes them a hard group to forget, and the music is quite memorable as well. I am happy to say that the new stuff is almost like a whole new BOOTY from that I heard almost a year ago. The new BOOTY has had some major surgery. The band still has the same musical techniques and the same vocal styles -- just more of them. I think I heard a little power in the background trying to get out. It was quite musically impressive. Perfect Rocket, just like the previous album, is a highly strange, unique mix of sounds, combined with a lead singer whose voice you'd be able to pick out of any screaming crowd. Her voice box is quite distinctive. This album even contains the overall best song from their last album, "The Great Machine." It's as catchy a tune as the Oscar Mayer theme song, maybe even more so. Perfect Rocket takes a large step up from where I last heard the group perform. With a more easygoing beat, more thought-provoking lyrics, and a whole hell of a lot more power, the album is sure to draw in a whole new crowd of followers. BOOTY strives to be a "visually alliterated" group, and I definitely think I can see stars now. If you got to hear the band's last album, it's hard to imagine something with more power, but Perfect Rocket is highly explosive. And, in this sense of the word, explosive is a good thing. Explosive guitar riffs, explosive voices, explosive creativity, and explosive talent. It seems to me that this Perfect Rocket is off to a quick and high-flying start. And THE MAGICAL ATTRACTION OF BOOTY has definitely taken off with this rocket. |
