    Artist History
The Bloody Lovelies are quite possibly the hottest unsigned band anywhere. Their hit single, "Lonely" has seen more than a thousand spins on commercial and college radio and mare than 6000 downloads on the internet. The song spent six weeks on Mainstream Radio Index's MRIsing chart of growth in medium-market, top-40 stations, sharing the chart with such luminaries as Phil Collins, Vitamin C, Sheryl Crow, Ricky Martin, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Pearl Jam. The band was the ONLY unsigned band on the chart during that period! During that time record sales in selected test markets closely mirrored the sales of major acts spending thousands of dollars a day in promotion.Lonely has been Song of the Day on MP3.com, Pick Hit of the Day on AMP3.com, #1 on the Billboard Talent Net charts, Top-Ten on Musicglobalnetwork.com, and has been featured and reviewed on numerous other prominent internet sites such as Mpxreview.com and MP3yak.com.The band was formed in 1994 when Randy Wooten and Martin Criss met as students at Vanderbilt University. After Performing as an acoustic duo in Nashville's bustling coffe-house circuit for a year they tjook on a rhythm section and began playing full-on, four-piece rock in clubs and on college campuses from Chicago to Knoxville, TN.Due to problems with the personal lives of the bassist and drummer, Randy and Martin found themselves a duo again. For a time the project was thought dead, but on a whim in the winter of 1999 Martin Criss uploaded "Lonely" to the web's most popular site for music, MP3.com. Over the next two days, "Lonely" recieved almost 2000 downloads, begining an internet snowball effect that has taken The Bloody Lovelies on a six-month trip from obscurity to the brink of international stardom.

    Press Reviews
From Campus Activities Today, October 1997:Cunningly entitled "Think Tank," The Bloody Lovelies have created a mind boggling array of musical selections that will yank your intellectual chain and rattle your brainwaves. Songs like "Lonely and "Anything At All" are reminiscent of Stone Temple Pilots or Nirvana and "I'm a Movin On" and "Gap Tooth Girl" Favor the likes of Beatles-style pop sprinkled with a bit of modern seasoning. Other selections worth mentioning are "Kill and Die" and "What You've Got."This tour de force consists of Marty Burk on Drums, Martin Criss on guitar and vocals, Steve Price on Bass and Randy Wooten featured on guitar and keyboard, with his vocal samplings added to the mix. In addition, Wes Jones serves as the band's producer, bringing lots of musical engineering experience to the table for the foursome.Often mistaken for an alternative group, The Bloody Lovelies insist that their music delves from deep rhythms and sharp lyrics, This first demo CD from the group has only six songs, but, listeners and fans beware: The Bloody Lovelies don't intend to stop here; more musical diversity is on the way. With such a wide range of musical acclimations, the bloody lovelies are sure to send you over the edge with "Think Tank" and promise an extreme follow-up album. IN CASE YOU'RE STILL SCROLLING DOWN, HERE'S A RECENT REVIEW FROM MPXREVIEW.COM!! Lonely by The Bloody Lovelies Once again Alternative Nashville, Tennessee has produced another notable musical force -- the Bloody Lovelies. These guys have given MP3 fans "Lonely" -- a hauntingly beautiful anthem to heartache. “Lonely” is a gripping Rock & Roll ballad that keeps you suspended in midair from beginning to end. This song is shrewdly crafted. It begins with an ominous single base note resonating in visceral isolation that slowly escalates into a “Baby Hold Onto Me” reference. A split second before you're set to moan, the tune veers off into a G-force defying roller coaster ride with you standing in the first car. Unexpected chord changes and passionate vocals are lashed and whipped into a frenzy by crack guitar licks reminiscent of Jimmy Page. This tune leaves you just as flattened as every other loser in the game of love. Randy Wooten and Martin Criss started the Bloody Lovelies in 1995 while students at Vanderbilt University. Originally an acoustic act, assembled a 4-piece band to cut "Think Tank" in 1997 before beginning a tour of the South and Southwest. Eventually they opted for solo projects. But luckily for us, Wooton and Criss recombined to produce a bloody lovely duo. It’s a one-two punch that we won’t soon forget. These guys are out to rearrange your synapses. Too bad the Bloody Lovelies are a bit reticent about revealing the details of their careers or their influences. (We tried to contact them, but never heard back from the band.) Fortunately the music speaks for itself. Lonely by The Bloody Lovelies Once again Alternative Nashville, Tennessee has produced another notable musical force -- the Bloody Lovelies.
