Artist History
Check out our official website!Rob Granville has been working in the music industry for ten years. He hails from South Africa. In Johannesburg Rob found early success as a writer and performer. Rob also worked as a sound engineer and session vocalist. This led to his keen interest in recording more complex material. The name ‘Tale’ became synonymous with these recordings. Rob was not content with the musical and political situation in South Africa. He moved to the USA and launched TALE in Los Angeles in 1991. In October 1992 Rob returned to South Africa and over the following year completed RIVERMAN VOL 1. The album is largely biographical. Rob met Michael Stodart in London during the performances of Riverman Vol1. Michael Stodart comes from New Zealand. He lived in Wellington and worked as a sound engineer and performer. Later he committed himself to full time music studies and taught music to private students. His band gained national recognition. The next few years took him through the UK, Ireland, Europe, the Middle East and Japan as a keyboardists, vocalist and arranger. He has recorded with The Farm and Boy George among others.A 'new' TALE partnership between Rob and Michael developed in late 1995, and work began on the second album ELYSIUM FIELDS.The band recorded in Downtown Studio’s, Johannesburg with Peter Pearlson (Paul Simon, and Brian Eno/U2). Tale is now distributed successfully through out the world. They are currently working on a 3rd album to be completed by July 1999. |
