Press Reviews
"Though they're adept at producing thick, dense Dub tracks, most of Subsonic Headdub's music defies categorization. They combine heavy, thudding Dub beats and basslines with shimmering, jangling Alternative Pop guitar licks, which unexpectedly veer off in Middle Eastern directions before finally settling on spaced-out Reggae riffs. Vocal samples, sirens, Caribbean percussion, and Ambient synths gradually build these tunes to thundering climaxes before they break down into hypnotic, minimal grooves. The juxtapositions can sometimes be disorienting, such as the arpeggiated Trance riff which plops down in the middle of a heavily Reggae-derived tune. And the use of spaghetti western guitars in Ambient Breakbeat excursions may strike the ears as rather incongruous. But it certainly makes for a compelling listen." Rosemary P, www.listen.com |
