Artist History
Spackle is comprised of: Tean (singer/songwriter/guitarist/ producer) and Eric Nalbandian (drummer). They got together in 1994 under the name Thrill of it All (with other musicians) and officially became Spackle in 1995. A recent addition to the band is Stacie Tabb (back-up singer). Spackle recorded one demo tape The Whoopie Smack Sessions and one cd/ep Strange Like You during their first two years together. In addition, they toured like crazy around Canada and the USA, picking up performing experience and lots of bizarre tales about the southern US.
At the center of all this hipness and luv is Tean. He began playing the drums in (what we like to call) a holy roller church at the age of 12. The minister called out to the congregation that he needed someone to play the drums and Tean (knowing nothing about the drums) went to the front of the church. The minister laid his hands on Tean's head and said "Lord give this child the ability to play the drums!" and Tean sat down and played the drums. I'm not saying it was a miracle, but that was the precise moment that Tean developed a passion for music. He eventually stepped out from behind the drums to express himself on vocals and guitar. He brings to his unique style of songwriting a desire for something new and exciting to make us luv and, above all, feel. And, with The Luv Album, he has accomplished this.
In addition to being a talented musician, Tean is also a screenwriter. His feature-length screenplay, "When the Rent is Due" - a semi-autobiographical action-adventure that uses his own music as a backdrop (You Got it All, Same Old Affair and Some Bit of Nasty) is currently being shopped to North American film producers.

Press Reviews
"... It's a little new wave, a little waka-waka funk, a little sawhorse rock and a whole lotta wit. Mixed by Paisley Park man Tom Tucker, the sound is crisp, clean and bubbly light. Tean's lyrics are whimsically easy-flowing, harmonies appropriately chintzy and endearing. Spackle come across refreshingly light yet filling. They've got their own groove going on and that's a good thing. 'The Luv Album' is a smart, coy courtship that catches on, keeps up and never conks out. 8 out of 10" - T'Cha Dunlevy, The Montreal Gazette
"A distinct Brit pop sound from a band from Montreal ... (they) capture a fun, melodic pop sound wrapped in vocals about luv. Leader singer and writer Tean's happy, Prince-like vocals are combined with a modern 80's new wave sound to create a truly unique effort." Matt Mernagh, "Exclaim!" |
