Artist description
Planet Groove is an acid jazz band from Ljubljana, Slovenia. The band was formed in January 1996. Since then, they have performed at more than 50 concerts at different locations (Slovenia, Croatia, Austria), including major Slovenian festivals and TV shows. In December 1997, the band has finished its debut CD "Livin' on Planet Earth?", which is also the first acid-jazz product on the Slovenian scene. In December 2000, the band has released their second CD. Planet Groove and their albums represent a refreshment on the Slovenian music scene. Their music is close to the movements, which made jazz very popular in the last decade (Miles Davis, Maceo Parker, Candy Dulfer, Defunkt, etc). Planet Groove respects the form, but the musicians still show significant music adventures which are often hidden inside the contagious themes. Interweaving of the different styles (jazz, funk, rock, soul) is related to the broad musical knowledge and formal education of the young musicians. The most often used expression for this kind of mixture is "acid jazz", but Planet Groove reaches beyond the limits of this genre. |
