Artist description
Digital artist pioneer Pat Ortman has released his first full length album. The self-titled CD features well crafted, hook laden and heartfelt songs evocative of David Gray and Collective Soul. "This is the record I heard in my head for a year... making it almost killed me but I'm really proud of how it turned out" says Pat "As for the songs, I think a lot of them turned out to have commercial potential, but I didn’t think about that while writing. I just wanted to say something with these songs... and I had to get away from all the bubblegum pop and the angry rap metal out there. I want to hear songs that say something, and I bet other people do too".
Pat wrote all the songs on the album, and recorded them by himself in a flurry of late night bedroom recording sessions after a series of underground acoustic shows in Hollywood. "It took a long time. But it turned out OK, taught me a lot about patience and discipline" he explains "besides, who else is gonna put up with me for hours on end trying to explain what the voices in my head are saying?".
Pat first gained notoriety in late 1999 with an online-only EP called 'Naked'. "That was me, in the kitchen for 20 minutes, live... kind of a stripped down thing. It was amazing to me that so many people enjoyed it" says Pat. 'Naked''s stripped down acoustic sound got to #1 on several major Internet sites, and led to an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine. It also encouraged him to make the jump to a 'real' album. "When you get email from people all over the world, all of them saying they enjoy what you're doing, it kind of helps you to believe in yourself. I think a lot of people are gonna be surprised at what they’ll hear on this new album".
The new CD, 'Pat Ortman' is available immediately at Amazon, CDBaby, and most other major online retailers as well as via Pat’s website http://www.patortman.com. The album has national retail distribution beginning in Fall 2001.
