Artist History
Late in 1997, three guys in Raleigh, NC gottogether to make some music. Kick The Baby's name is a blatant SouthPark reference, not advocacy of child abuse. Jeez, get a life. A couple months later, the boys began recording and performing. Just asthings were really starting to happen locally, Doug broke his left hand. Thatinjury might have sidelined other bands, but Kick The Babyused the time Doug needed to heal to produce a cd, "Lullabye", an album that is already receivingairplay across North America, in Europe and on the Pacific Rim.Things are beginning to roll again for Kick The Baby. With newmaterial written primarily in the months they were hidden away in abasement studio and the tunes on "Lullabye", the guyshave again begun to actively perform on the local Raleigh-Durham-ChapelHill, NC scene. So if you missed them last time here's your second chance at afirst impression of Kick The Baby! |

Group Members
Wisconsin native Doug McKay providespop-styled vocals and guitar riffs reminiscent of his stints in Twelve BlueStanleys and Stay Off The Dog. Bass guitarist Thomas "Ski" Szypulski, most recently from DamageControl, a NC band that quickly achieved international airplay andacclaim through exploitation of the Internet, brings a melodic blues andheavy metal bottom end to the music. Anchoring the rhythm section like a lead Volvo on the end of a chain ofbureaucrats is drummer Shimer Gradus. His background is well groundedin funk and his ubiquity on the local music scene belies his meretwenty-some years on the planet. |
