Artist History
Karnavali was formed in 1998 by David Gonsalves and Keith Brown. They decided to take the sounds of Keith's giant guitars and Dave's timely percussion to make a distinct style that would seperate the sound spectrum. In early demos, they experimented with rock and pop and decided to move away with more psychedlia and driving sounds. If you are looking for an EMO alternative, then Karnavali is the band for you. |

Press Reviews
It has been a long time since a local Boston act has turned my head enough for me to wonder and question, "Are these guys really from here, and if they are, where the hell have they been hiding out? Although this is only a 2-track demo recording listed as ‘Autumn’ and ‘No Turn On Red’, an immediate magnetism is developed. Immediately upon digesting these tracks I am taken back to the early 90s UK guitar scene where Midway Still, The Family Cat, Thousand Yard Stare, Adorable, and Ride ruled the club scene. Although these acts are today 100% defunct, my faith in the guitar driven dream-pop has been reawakened and revitalized by Karnavali. The progressive guitar work and unique combination of vocals set Karnavali apart from the drowned mass of musicians here in Beantown. While too many local musicians are self-indulged in dead chord progressions and all too familiar meaningless vocal performances, Karnvali reveal a creative edge unparalleled by anyone to date.
