Artist History Jack Tannehill is an original singer-songwriter born and raised in northern New Jersey. Performing publicly since 1978, Jack hit any stage or street corner open to original material and a solo acoustic act. By 1980, Jack was fronting an all-acoustic band with partner Brad Jarvis. Tannehill-Jarvis were sharing stages with major label artists such as Dr. John, Jorma Kaukonen, Suzanne Vega, Savoy Brown, John Hammond, and David Brombore as well as recording background vocals on "J.A.M. '86" (Jersey Artists for Mankind) with John Eddie and Glen Burtnick. New Jersey clubs such as The Stone Pony, Stanhope House, The Show Place and New York's Bitter End, Folk City, Speak Easy and Kenny's Cataways have hosted Tannehill-Jarvis. The band recorded and released a 45, Nicky's Netcong, in 1982 and a ten-song album in 1988, self titled Tannehill-Jarvis. Frustrated with numerous major label nibbles and no takers, the duo disbanded soon after their album release. The album was released independently, yet with no band to push it, the album sold a total of 4,500 copies. The album aired on WDHA's Virgin Vinyl and WNEW's Prisoner of Rock series, and had three songs hit heavy rotation on college radio as well as a direct call back from rock's Todd Rundgren requesting more material. Kutztown State College reported this original duo's coffeehouse showcases as "The best in KSC's history." Regardless of the album's positive feedback, Jack gave up the one thing that he loved the most, performing his songs. In 1992, Jerry Balderson, host of 91.9 FM, WNTI's Jumpin' with J.B., invited Jack on his Saturday evening program. The telephone response to Jack's material proved that the audience missed Jack as much as Jack missed them. Jerry Balderson and Michelle Ceddia had since started Buy or Die Records. Jack released a total of three songs on two Buy or Die compilation albums, Sound Effects Your Head and In Wig City. On both compilation albums, the reviews focused on Jack Tannehill as a talented writer with trademark raspy vocals. Since the release of Sound Effects Your Head, the radio airplay on WNTI resulted in Jack being contacted by two major labels. In addition to being contacted, Jack made a video, compliments of GT Productions, New York City. The Aquarian Weekly, NJ's music newspaper, wrote that In Wig City's nineteen band compilation "the stand out track" is "Better Now" by Jack Tannehill. Jim Toia, Alison Boardman and Andy Goessling were also complimented for their tasteful contribution to this track. Since the release of Jack's first solo project, Greatest Hints, one thing is obvious, this singer-songwriter hasn't lost what it took for the success of Tannehill-Jarvis. No singer-songwriter could have asked for more than the attention that top NJ critics have given Jack as a talented writer performer with a distinctive trademark style. From New Jersey's top music magazine The Aquarian Weekly to Jay Lustig Star Ledger's 3 1/2 star review, this singer, his songs, and Greatest Hints have invoked continuos reviews. Major music critics, magazines, and newspapers have picked Jack out of the pack on numerous compilation CD's as being a "Stand out artist with a stand out track." A national CD magazine "THE LEAK" featured Jack on a 25,000 pressing release introducing him as one of New Jersey's "Top Artists" to look for in 1997. And a group started by the New Jersey Press called "Friends of Northwest New Jersey Musicians" awarded Jack "Best Songwriter 1998" Whether he's out with a band, or solo acoustic, Jack remains an "Energetic heavy hitter" in the Tri-State area. Jack is currently an independent artist and is not presently affiloiated with any label.

Currently, Jack performs solo and occasionally with guitarist Steve Armbruster and others. On his latest CD, LIVE AT APPLE VALLEY VILLAGE-THE OFFICIAL BOOTLEG VOLUME 2, Jack is accompanied by Steve Armbruster and Billy Smith.
