Artist History
The members of Dos Gatos have been performing and recording music together under various guises for the last 12 years. Band members Rick Simpson, Michael Bell, and Christopher Bell each bring varied influences and styles to the table when creative decisions are made. The group blends contemporary and sometimes off-the-wall electronic sounds with traditional guitar and vocal melodies. Their music can range from annoyingly driving and distorted to folky and harmonic...sometimes within the same song. No one member plays any one instrument exclusively, although you are most likely to find Rick doing the programming, playing the guitar or banjo, and singing. Mike is most apt to want to plug in the Marshall or bang on a keyboard, and Chris spends most of his time complaining about what Mike and Rick are doing and playing alittle lead guitar in between. The Band appears on the R.E.M. Tribute CD "Reconstructing The Fables" performing the song Swan Swan H. Dos Gatos has a manager named Tony Meadows for Anagram Music, BMI. |

Press Reviews
(a)SPIN magazine says: "This music makes me want to put on a tin foil mini skirt and attend an amish barn raising.""Lo-Fi fun with a pronounced country obsession and some inventive non-traditionalpercussion.The shoddiness of the recording contributes to the forlorn quality of thesongs, which lazily roll along at the pot-headed pace of Meat Puppets II."-Listen.com |
