Artist History
BIG POO GENERATOR is a band from America, originating in Naperville, Illinois, a prosperous suburb of Chicago. There, the members met in school and, in 1986, formed a rock and roll band called The Gland Puppies. Originally concentrating on cover versions of popular songs, the band had great high school success, winning the local Battle of the Bands contest in 1988. After that point, a spiritual metamorphosis occurred within the band, and their new brand of magical music was born. At first, the group concentrated on writing songs exclusively about young dogs, sticking with the theme drawn from the band's name. After recording various self-produced tapes, several of the founding members of the group left the band or died, leaving us with Ben, John and Rob, who have constituted the line-up since 1989. In 1992, upon recording The Gland Puppies' 7th self-produced, full-length album, the group changed its name to BIG POO GENERATOR and released a monumental and now legendary Compact Disc, "Please Kill Us" on Seattle, Washington's C/Z Records. The album featured the classic songs "Mr. Poo (He's in You)," "Puphy the Carrot," "Hound Dog Part 2," and "Gorgon 5." An account of the bizarre circumstances surrounding the recording of this album can be found in the cult novel "The Flowers' Desire," by Tigress Ayers. The band continued to produce fantastic new audio creations during the 1990's, many of which can be found here on MP3.COM. Songs like "I'm Gonna Kick Myself in the Balls" and "Sing It, Mrs. Ass" have helped the band reach a whole new online audience. Side projects, under names like Hemorrhoy Rogers, Abe Lincoln and the Stincolns, and Cowbots, have served to further the band's quest to be really cool. Currently, BIG POO GENERATOR is developing its next project which they plan on unveiling soon! The band's motto: "You get more with a piece of poo and a gun than with a piece of poo alone." |
