Artist description
Beanpole's members have a broad influential base. As a result, we have a unique variety when it comes to our original music. We have grown to incorporate elements of the "grunge sound" with southern, almost country flavors on some songs. We see our diversified influences as a creative asset, and think that we have a little something for everyone. |

Artist History
Beanpole was formed in 1992, just a garage band at first.Soon after, they began playing clubs in the memphis area, and gained recognition after their first independently released CD, jelly filled, in 1996.They released their second album, oba na men, in 1997, which was also well received in the memphis area. The highlight of 1998 came when they were chosen to play at the MTV sports and music festival. Their 3rd CD, The Stonewall Sessions, was recently released to an even greater reception, and the band is currently working up plans for a regional tour. |

Press Reviews
Beanpole's first CD, Jelly Filled, received 3 out of 4 stars from The Commercial Appeal's Bill Ellis. The second CD, Oba Na Men, received 3 1/2 out of 4 stars by the same writer. "Beanpole makes an ambitious, guitar driven sound....far better than anything by Bush or Live." - Bill Ellis, The Commercial Appeal, July 27, 1996."...they (Beanpole) make more convincing flannel rock than most major label acts whining like a memorex copy of Eddie Vedder.....Listen up, Memphis. Regardless of their silly name (we take exception to that), Beanpole is one of the finer rock bands we have..." - Bill Ellis, The Commercial Appeal, October 4, 1997. |
