Artist History
Walter fell in love with reggae's infectious, hypnotic grooves and conscious, uplifting messages in the early 1980's. As his songwriting and life evolved, Walter was ready to bring his original songs to the nightclub audiences of San Diego in 1993. His first batch of songs was released on The Shepherds-For The Love album in 1994 and received a very favorable response from the San Diego reggae massive. The 1995-1998 period saw Walter change members and band names to fully commit to the western U.S. tour ing routes. As OVERSTAND, a brief stint with THE 8750 REGGAE BAND, and finally WALTER ST. CLAIR and the OVERSTAND BAND and the release of MOVING FORWARD in 1997, Walter's live shows gained recognition in the west as powerful, tight, and contemporary with many praises coming forth for his original songwriting style. The 1999-2001 period saw a personal life rebirth with the raising of young son Isaac as a single father and the gradual finishing of Walter's latest release-MORNING HERBS on his USAREGGAE label. 2002 will put Walter's focus on distributing the new album and/or finding the right conscious, career-oriented label that can assist him in this endeavor. Guidance and Love for ALL!!
