Artist description
Songwriters Guy Schwartz & Roger Tausz (A.K.A. The New Jack Hippies), have wriiten together for 28 years, but have spent most of thier onstage time as support musicians ("They're both bass players, you know!") for the likes of Stevie Nicks, Scarface, BW Stevenson, Sam 'Lightnin'' Hopkins, Billie Joe Shaver, Sandy Stewart, Freddy Fender, Jack Saunders, The Sisters Morales and Jimmy Reed. Lately, they have been writing for, and producing CDs for many of the individual musicians in their huge collective band, known as Guy Schwartz & The New Jack Hippies, who perform with any 6 - 25 (of the 40 or so) members who may show up on any given night. It's a three-ring rock circus, featuring several different configurations of this large band, bouncing back and forth from original rock band, to R & B revue (featuring several of the Hippies fronting their own stuff - as well as performing the songs of Schwartz & Tausz), to a jam band which sometimes evokes a weekly Texas icehouse blues jam and sometimes more closely resembles the extended free-form jams of Moses Guest or The Grateful Dead. |
