Artist History
SadieHawkins started in 1997 at Plymouth State College. In 1998, "Until The Walk Away", a 4 song EP, was recorded with the original line-up of Scott, Jake, Heath and then bassist Tim Fife. In 1999, after Tim Fife had left SadieHawkins and the group had gone a short period without a full time bassist, former Apartment 81 guitarist Jamie Cadorette joined the group as bassist. Members of the group are currently working on separate projects. Jake, Heath and Jamie worked for a while on a project with former "Imagine Being Deaf" guitarist Shawn, and Scott and Jamie recorded a song with fellow musician Mike Boyko as the group "Downtownstares". Jamie briefly worked on a project with Eric Evans under the name Phydaux. Jamie is now working on recording a low-fi solo CD. |

Press Reviews
"The only one of the local bands to be sending out something other than a tape, the WPCR DJs decided to put their songs on vinyl. The resulting 7" was released earlier this year and has been sent out to respected college stations around the country. The production on this one is cleaner than on the tapes from the other bands (in Plymouth), and how cool is it to have your own record out. The only problem that you can run into with that is that so few people actually own record players. As far as the music itself goes, these guys rock. All four songs are getting airplay here and at other stations, and deservedly so. "Living Room Paris" and "Once Around The Town" are the a-sides. These tracks are one part what rock used to be and three parts what rock is becoming. Giving up on the idea of "pop sensibilities", these guys just let their music run free. The b-sides, "Last" and "Lloyd Dobbler", compliment the others well and deserve play, too. When you get a chance to see them live, go ahead and yell out a request for one of these tunes. You'll be happy you did." - "Sound Advice," by James Firmin, "The Clock", November 13, 1998 ============================================= ============================================= "SadieHawkins has an aggressive and rapid sound that leaves one of two impressions - you love it or you don't. Their music is straight and loud. And Scott's voice ...is unique, open, and above all youthful in quality. ...SadieHawkins, like Apartment 81, is a fun band, if not a little more charismatic. The band members each seemed to have a wealth of talent, especially Heath Gray, who's drumming technique is overall clean and impressive. ...SadieHawkins possesses a uniquely invented sound that will be amazing with development. Those who make up the style of SadieHawkins are musicians with a creative, and therefore respected, vision. While Apartment 81 is hard to pigeonhole, SadieHawkins is even harder. Innovation is their most powerful and leading gimmick. All said, ...SadieHawkins (is a) promising band with up and coming gigs that all should attend." - "Bands Show Their Wares," by Gilian Hodges, "The Clock", November 13, 1998 |
