    Artist History
Gil Davis and Mike Rickenbaker decided to take their love of music, plus their songwriting talents, and their desire to perform, to the next level with the creation of the group RETRO in the summer of 1996.Their new CD album, "Back To Back" (on the Kosmic Records label), evolved from an eclectic mix of ten of their original songs which are reminiscent of the musical styles of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. This was no accident. Their idea was to produce an album which is not only melodious and fun to listen to, but also features thoughtful lyrics to which many people can relate. Mood-setting themes run throughout most of these songs, which are set to rhythms that reflect most people's tastes in music. One of the unique features of this album is the diversity of the songs which range from "in-your-face" rock & roll to soft ballads, blues, jazz, folk, country, and even some rhythm & blues. The RETRO sound has many faces and each song has its own unique attitude and style. This idea grew out of the "disgust" which both artists (Gil and Mike) felt about many other contemporary albums which, all too often, have the same sound running throughout them from the first to the last song, making those types of albums very "boring and predictable to listen to"!So, if you're looking for a good "diverse" album that will reward you time and time again with its excellent "listenability" and "production value", then you have definitely come to the right place! But, the proof is in the listening... CHECK OUT THEIR SOUND CLIPS (TRACK SAMPLINGS) ON THIS SITE!!!!! Currently, Gil and Mike (RETRO) wish that fans of their music understand that they are primarily studio artists, but plan to eventually perform their original songs "live" on a limited basis (depending on their schedules). Gil is currently at work writing and producing additional songs for a number of other talented performers, while Mike is also currently writing new songs as well. Production on RETRO's next album is scheduled to begin in the next year or two!
