Artist History Beginning in 1998 by co-members of former projects looking to crate something different, Kevin Walsh (bass) and Fabian Betancur (guitar) began to look to the future. Soon to follow were Allison Woest (guitar), and Ken Duncan (drums). The musicians were in place, and Mindtwist had begun to take form. They acquired a vocalist and began writing extremely heavy songs, but didn't lose any of the melodic musicianship that rapidly became a cornerstone in the Mindtwist sound after quickly making a name for themselves in the hardcore and metal scenes alike. Still finding themselves unfulfilled in their collective mission and unhappy with their front man, they began searching for a new passion and energy to put the final piece into place. They found that piece in friend and vocalist Rob Barravecchio. After only a few sessions they knew it was right and Mindtwist was complete. Based in New York with deep hardcore roots, Mindtwist blends the aggression and groove of hardcore breakdowns with eerie melody and an eclectic mix of metal, bringing them a widespread fan base along the east coast. Playing venues in and outside of NY, Mindtwist extends itself into the crowd with relentless provocation of your mind and emotions, forcing you into the foremost corners of your psyche. The incredible mix of Allison’s attitude driven, groove-laden riffs with Fabian’s unique sci-fi melodic effects and soundscapes create Mindtwist’s texture and soul. Ken’s primal and intricate drumbeats are intensified and complimented skill fully by Kevin’s bone crushing bass, creating the backbone and heart of Mindtwist’s sound. Rounding out this total attack on your senses are the intense and personal lyrics that are sung, spit, screamed and dragged out of Rob’s mind. To see them live is to bring the collective out front dead course and full force into every listener’s soul, where it will continue to haunt you even after you've left the show. With melodic hooks and unforgettable grooves, each of Mindtwist’s movements engrosses the audiences attention. With 2 EP’s in their arsenal, they continue to write to complete their first full-length album due out fall of 2002. Mindtwist has only just begun to scratch the collective.
