Artist History
Born in Chicago in 1972, one of Ken's first musical influences came in the form of, the one and only, Elvis Presley. At the tender age of 4, Ken loved to perform Elvis songs for his family. Not too long after, his grandfather introduced him to his first instrument...a Hammond organ. In 1985, Ken's uncle, Pat Hall, introduced Ken to the piano. Taking Ken under his musical wing for a few years, his uncle stopped by on the weekends and eventually taught Ken everything he needed to know about playing the piano. Since his uncle played by ear, Ken also learned from him, the importance of trusting in his own musical instincts and also learned to play only by ear. In 1987 Ken was greatly influenced further by the music of Sir Elton John and Billy Joel after hearing their songs, "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me" and "Baby Grand". On a whim, in 1991, Ken and a high school pal, Joel Piotrowski, teamed up to write their first song together. The lyrics to their first song "I Walked Away" came from an old letter that Joel had written. Joel no longer writes his lyrics from letters and Ken still trusts his musical instincts and composes all of their songs by ear. He and Joel continue to write songs together and hope to become the next Millennium's version of Elton John and Bernie Taupin or, at minimum, make as much money as they have. |
