Artist History John Morgan Newbern first appeared in 1968 under the name "Malachi", with his first major release, "Malachi/Holy Music" on the M.G.M.-Verve label. John's performances have always been considered unique, and are said to be one of the early influences in the birth of the New Age genre. However so, John feels that these performances are perhaps more "ancient age" than "New Age". Either way, it is definately a fusion of world sounds.
