Artist History
Half Looking is a delicious mix of folk, pop, rock, and blues. With incredible songwriting and soaring harmonies, this band is a delight for the ears. Half Looking has been on the Midwestern scene for five years, playing clubs and festivals, including the 2002 National Women's Music Festival, the 2001 Michigan Women's Music Festival, the 2000 Albuquerque Wimminfest, and the 2000 Missoula Womensfest. Half Looking has also shared the stage with Melissa Ferrick, Dar Williams, Indigo Girls, and Laura Love.
Half Looking has just finished recording their third full-length CD, The Warmth in Here, engineered by Glenn Brown Productions in East Lansing, MI. The Warmth in Here exhibits maturity and musicianship that surpasses their previous works, even delving into the Celtic and blugrass genres for two songs, although never straying far from their folk roots. Whereas their previous album was more guitar-laden and political, The Warmth in Here is exactly what the title conveys: soothing, introspective songs that still provide pop hooks and upbeat rhythms.
Half Looking's first and second CDs, Tip of My Tongue and Delicious Humming, together sold well over 3500 CDs locally and nationally. With national distribution by independent distributor Goldenrod Music, Half Looking can be found on shelves throughout the country.
The current line-up of Half Looking consists of Hez Naylor (acoustic guitar, mandolin, lead vocals, primary songwriter), Holly Miller (electric and acoustic guitar), Murray Stewart-Jones (drums, djembe, mandolin, backing vocals), Mike Lynch (piano, Hammond B-3), and Dominic Suchyta (upright bass, electric bass). |
