Artist description
Guy Schwartz is a Texas musician whose career has been driven by songwriting AND his skills on several instruments. Guy's recording career with songwriting partner Roger Tausz dates back to 1974. He is currently working with his longtime sidekick (as a team they are known as The New Jack Hippies), writing for, and producing CDs for many of the individual musicians in their huge collective band - known as Guy Schwartz & The New Jack Hippies - which performs with any 6 - 25 (of the 40 or so) members who may show up to play on any given night. When not doing concert work, or opening act slots with fixed times, the band often performs all night long without a break, reconfiguring itself over and over again, into many different types of musical units shaped to serve each song the best. It's an original rock band, an old-time R & B revue, and a Texas Icehouse Psychedelic jam all rolled up into one very different band |

Press Reviews
"Pulling from the great 'genre' pool, The New Jack Hippies are a unique spin on bluesy, jam-style rock. Eclectic from the very sense of the word, the large conglomeration of musicians is remarkably creative and cohesive." -PJ Cooper, Houston Headline |
