Artist description
The crafted musical and lyrical content of a first-rate singer-songwriter, combined with the soulful delivery of a road tested bluesman. This quote from a recent review says it best: "Spiritual, cynical, songwriter, Crescent City influenced, heir to the legacy of Professor Longhair, smooth yet sharp, Bob Malone is all this and more..." |

Artist History
Born and raised in New Jersey, Bob Malone started taking classical piano lessons at age 9. A quick study, but mostly a pain in the ass to his piano teacher, he remained totally absorbed in the three B's until he heard "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" by Billy Joel. After that, Bob was determined to write songs and sing them wherever he could. After gaining a mostly useless degree in jazz piano at the famed Berklee College Of Music, Bob moved to Los Angeles, CA - a place that, after 10 years he is still reluctant to call home. After the release of his first CD "The Darkest Part Of The Night", Bob took to the road, where he currently spends most of his time. He has opened for the Neville Brothers, Rev. Al Green, Boz Scaggs, Average White Band, The Bobs, Rev. Billy C. Wirtz, Manhattan Transfer, Robert Earl Keen, and many many others. Bob Malone has been a winner and/or finalist in songwriting contests at the Kerrville, Falcon Ridge, Napa, and South Florida folk festivals, he has since actually been paid to play those festivals on a mostly regular basis, which is, of course, the best award of all. In addition to all of this, Bob has toured the entire US, as well as Italy and Japan. He still lives in Los Angeles, with his girlfriend Karen Nash, and their cats Bacchus & Zulu. |

Press Reviews
"This ivory tickling singer/songwriter is as real as it gets..these dozen cuts are flawless. One of strongest albums of the year" Music Connection"Malone is a piano man who mixes elements of blues, jazz, swing, and modern pop into one stout brew" Song Talk Magazine"The grand tradition of barrelhouse piano as practiced by Professor Longhair, Dr John, and Little Feat's Bill Payne...the best of American musical tradition"BAM Magazine"Bob Malone's songs draw on the wit and dry sense of humor of John Hiatt or Bob Dylan. Seeing his piano playing alone is worth the price of admission"Easy Reader |
