Artist History
In 1997, Black Majik (Aaron Walker) was approached by resident assistants from UW Eau Claire to create a swing band to perform for a spring dance. He then talked to some friends from a big band he was in and the swing band was formed. The Phat Daddies then began to play around the area, in malls and dances. In ‘98, The Phat Daddies became Phat Daddy and Mitch Jurisch, our current bass player, at the time an auxiliary percussionist, joined. In fall of ’98, Dave Munson (trumpet) joined, Mitch stepped up to bass, and we became The Industrial Strength Muffler Clamps. We played a few gigs, parties and dances, adding Julia (vocals) and we were on our way. This summer we picked up quite a few more gigs, such as dances, Christmas parties and we’ve just now entered the club scene. New to our ranks are Bill Mac Millan on guitar, Mike Teuteberg on keys, Justin Terry on drums, and our two newest members: Karen Fisher on sax and James Johnson on vocals. And with these new members came our final name, Black Majik and the Atomic Aces. We’re fully equipped to play parties and fully prepared to swing you strong and hard. Our tricks will swing ya! |
