Artist History
Spend a few minutes enjoying the music of Al Reingold, who blends his formidable talents as a classically-trained pianist with New Age and rock-and-roll sensibilities. The veteran Atlanta pianist and composer has assembled a world class ensemble to produce his most beautiful and exciting recording to date, STARWATCH. It begins with one of the artist’s most engaging and timeless pieces that quickly captures the heart and imagination of the listener. Reingold’s solo piano concept album AFTER ERASMUS comprises interlocking nautical themes ranging from the delicate “Ten Years Down” to the powerful “Land’s End”. The album has been well received in parts of Asia and has enjoyed national airplay in the United States. THE STORY SO FAR, a “greatest hits” compilation album, was released at the International New Age Trade Show in June, 1998. This collection captures Reingold’s breadth, including pop-rock songs featuring Shawn Mullins, Michelle Malone, Kevin Lawson, and Wendy Bucklew. The album ends with a medley from a solo piano concert at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center in Atlanta.Al Reingold is a brilliant pianist, composer, producer and arranger whose tasteful craftsmanship bridges the gaps between classical, New Age and pop. Al’s unique music, whether heard live or captured on his recordings, takes his listeners on a wonderfully soothing and powerfully energizing ride. |

Press Reviews
AFTER ERASMUS -- Review by Steve Ryals -- Al Reingold composes dramatic, grandly thematic melodies. He also plays the piano brilliantly. This irresistible combination is showcased on his fine release After Erasmus. Essentially a solo piano album, After Erasmus tells a musical story of love lost to the sea. Reingold’s melodies alternately whisper and caress like moonlight on a calm sea or rage and crash like a hurricane roaring out of the Stygian depths. The effect is magical, as the story plays itself out against the backdrop of your imagination. Reingold plays with a tender yet fierce confidence, sure in his prowess as a pianist and as a storyteller. The strong melodic hook of “Storm Child” evokes storm-tossed seas and the stunning fury of the ocean while still managing to tug at the heartstrings. “Firelight Dancers” is as gentle as waves lapping on a pristine beach, dancers casting delicate shadows on the pure white sand. With an attractive cover and in-store support, After Erasmus will particularly attract fans of contemporary piano music who are looking for something new. |
