    Artist description
"They are not your typical whiney assed, black rimmed glasses, on crack emo, but I could considerthem emo. The Emotions are more on the lines of the new sensation that seems to be flirting its way into the music scene these days. What am I talking about? Indie-Emo-pop. (That's almost another name for pop/punk, but its a bit newer and with more class) The Emotions are here to offer us with a little bit of mardi gra in our lives! They could be classified under the category with similar bands like Saves the Day, The Promise Ring, The Queers and Ramones and stuff of that nature. Just mix all those bands together, add in some high school catastrophes, teen loves, fun drama (and a few cute boys *wink*) and you got the Emotions!"--S.T.I.C.H.E.S. Zine

    Artist History
I guess you can say we have a pretty normal band. But then again I don't think we are like most bands. I mean we have had problems and fights, but these 3 pop punks kids are far from being over. It all started in 1998 when Dan and Ben were in a band called Poison Davil with 2 kids, PJ Rey and Torre Croyle(we really sucked and never played anything but Dammit and Chick Magnet). But then we met Chris Barker (who now plays for Anti-Flag-go-kart records) and Chris asked Ben and PJ to start a band with him that is now known as The Lankershim Executives. So that left me and Torre without a band. Me and Torre would hang out when they practiced and they seemed to be doing really good. But Chris felt bad that me and Torre were excluded from them so he asked us both to sing in the band. We both tried it and after about 2 days I didn't really enjoy it cause they were a political band at the time and i love singing about girls and stupid people, not something that I don't really have interest in. So I sat down with all them and told them I didn't want to sing anymore and they understood and went on to bigger and better things for a while playing a couple basement shows. Ben and me were best friends and Ben sat down with me one day and said that he wanted to be in a band with me cause he wanted to start a band like Blink 182, or more of music we like. But I only played Guitar at the time but I said that I would play bass, never playing it before. So we started our adventure with no big problem, NO drummer. So one day after LxEx (The Lankershim Executives) was done practicing I picked up the bass and Ben grabbed his guitar and Chris was behind the drums. We played a song that we improvised and for once in my life I thought my band sounded good (at least at the time). So every once in a while me and Ben and Chris would practice. After getting about 5 songs Chris got his 4-track out and we recorded a really shitty demo tape and played a basement show with Chris. We were extremely emo. We we having fun and it was great. But then Chris started taking off with his other band, Anti-Flag, and it made it hard on us and we realized that we needed a new drummer. Now me and Ben were in a band before poison Davil called M.P.G. (melted plastic G.I. Joes) and we were with one of our friends who said his friend drummed so we went down just once and just played with drums (the first time ever) and the kid drumming was Paul Berger. He lived right down the street from me. Remembering that he drummed we asked him to drum for us. He said yes and the birth of the emotions began. We got the name of our band from this kid Alex. I told him we were starting and Emo band and he said "that's emotional." So we took the name the emotions. But we played our old music for a while that we played with Chris, but it just wasn't us. It was too slow and too alternative. We totally changed our style with Paul. We went from Emo to pop punk and pop punk kind of came came natural to all of us. Paul had all the right equipment and he was a decent drummer who's skills grew over, time as did all of ours. Being with Paul for about 2 months we played a basement show at PJ Rey's house. Everyone there seemed to like us and laughed at our wacky lyrics and humorous antics. We made shirts and everything with makers going around asking to see girls boob's for a free shirt (not to mention anyone who actually did show us their tits, but it did work). We were off to a good start and it was fun. Soon after that we started talking to a band called the Rydells. Being from Ohio the Rydells asked us to play a show all the way in another state. We said "hell yea" and Ben's dad rented a Truck and lugged all our stuff out to Ohio to play our very first show. We played there with the Rydells, the Ellen Degenerats, and Losers Club (who we went on to be best band friends and played many shows with together). But we made 40 bucks at the show and we spent it all on McDonalds at after the show. Our first show was still my favorite. We had the most fun there and it was just something special to us all. Losers Club liked us a lot and them and us played many shows together at places like Coolpeppers Hothouse, Cafe Au Lait and MIT. Finding this great studio by us that was affordable we went and recorded our first GOOD recording. The studio was owned and operated by a guy named Dave Myers. He did a great job and it was a great experience. We recorded 3 songs, Grilled Cheese, Nintendo Boy and Paper or Plastic. It was really good and we were really impressed. We went on and sold some tapes we made of it and everyone seemed pleased with our sound. We went back to Marhs Studio again to record another 5 songs, Drive-Thru Jockey, My Lincoln Logs, Mr. Rogers I Love You, Cheerleader Bliss, and Ferris Wheel. This recording was really great. After we recorded we played with some really good bands and played in some really great places such as Club Laga with Anti-Flag, Coolpeppers Hothouse with Olive Lucy, MIT with Punchline, and we are hoping to get more in the future. Getting ready to go back in the studio to record a full-length record. But after about a year of me, Ben, and Paul being together in this band we have learned never to take the fun out of the band because it ruins you. Right now we are in a slump just because there was a big misunderstanding. But be on the lookout for us because we are going to get back to how we used to be, 3 emo kids having fun having girls drop to their knee's at just seeing us. And basically that is out story and we're sticking to it.

Stitches Zine--- The Emotions: "The Queers meet Mr. Rogers...and give him a good spank in the ass!"Well obviously when I heard about the Emotions from Lankershim Executives, Torre Croyle I was expecting to see an emo band. They sort of are, they sort of aren't. They are not your typical whiney assed, black rimmed glasses, on crack emo, but I could consider them emo. The Emotions are more on the lines of the new sensation that seems to be flirting its way into the music scene these days. What am I talking about? Indie-Emo-pop. Just mix all those bands together, add in some high school catastrophes, teen loves, fun drama (and a few cute boys *wink*) and you got the Emotions!I saw them only once, but it was a really fun time. They were opening for Anti Flag. Yes you heard me, ANTI "Mother fuckin" FLAG!!! I thought that was really cool that they were opening for one of my favorite bands. After I saw them, I went over to the "Emotion table" and bought their demo. It was called "my dixie wrecked" well I am a bit slow and didn't get that joke till a few days later. That is the type of humor that you will find throughout the demo. It's really fun! wacky! zaney! heart throbish kind of stuff!I can't wait till these guys play again or have a new demo or cd!Till then, keep us "wishing we were back in high school again, or happy that we are." The Emotions! Yeah!-Erin Stitches
