    Artist History
The band originated as a 5 piece during the infamous Daytona wildfires of 1998, practicing in an un-airconditioned garage with 102 degree temperatures outside, which led them to choose "Sweatbox" as their name Through several line-up changes, the band evolved into an all-original, bad-ass, hard rock power trio bent on music world domination, which started with the release of their self-titled debut in December of 1999. Since January, 2000, Sweatbox has played over 40 high-profile gigs all over Florida and has earned airplay on several 100,000 watt FM radio stations in Florida (WJRR, WTKS, WFKS, WPRK), Arizona(KUPD) and Louisiana (WLSU), while doing a variety of live interviews and appearances for these same various radio stations. Now a four-piece, Sweatbox continues to get lots of great press, airplay and fans all over the world.

    Press Reviews
Daytona Beach News Journal Entertainment Writer, Rick DeYampert, writes on December 17, 1999, "Sweatbox puts the power back into the genre once known as the 'power trio.' On their self-titled CD, the band strafes sonic battle zones occupied by the likes of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Metallica, with timeouts for less heavy stuff in a Rush or Green Day vein.'Stuck Pig' features Yamada shredding like a young Jimmy Page while the rest of the lads apply a Sabbath-like hammer. 'Superstar' is a refreshing, punk-metal satire of wannabees, replete with a hilarious, goofball vocal by Sica."Roi Tamkin of "Southeast Performer" writes, "The cuts are mostly headbangers that hit all the metal themes of anger against women and the occult...as a bonus, "Gnat" and "Superstar" take the extra step of ridiculing personalities within the music industry...this is a terrific CD with songs that stay in your head long afterwards."Jamie J. Anderson of the Orlando Sentinel writes,"The group's music varies from heavy to heavier, and some of the lyrics could use a parental advisory label. However, Sweatbox's musicianship holds true throughout the entire CD."101.1 FM WJRR stated after choosing the band for their 2000 Earthday Birthday Pre-Showcase, "They're one of Orlando's Most Influential New Bands."
