**PackFM** whutduzFMstand4?-- That is the question that PackFM hopes you want to find the answer to on his debut full length project whutduzFMstand4? This young MC (definitely not to be confused with Young MC) is already off to a very good start in his musical career. He had the first song he ever recorded played on the Hot 97 Home Jams show hosted by Dennis Rivera (assistant to Funkmaster Flex) in New York City. His BLAZIN' underground joint Hit List was played for 4 weeks in a row during the last month of the shows existence. It also created a considerable buzz among underground Hip-Hop heads in the NYC. In May of 98' he also appeared on the B-side single Lifestyles of the Poor Wit’ a Fortune which was released by Ope Entertainment.
Not long after that, he became the 88HipHop MC Battle Champion. He held the title down undefeated for 4 months until he retired and was placed in the Hall of Fame. In March of 1999 PackFM entered and won the "Braggin' Rites" battle tournament. He was the last man standing in a field of 32 MC's. In August of 1999 he won the Next Generation Battle competition at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe in NYC. That summer PackFM was featured in the Documentary "Kika NY" which aired in Holland as well as the independant film "Freestyle" which was featured in the Independant Film Festival in LA. In September of 1999 he won the TDK sponsored 24 HOUR MC battle competition 3 months in a row. In June 2000 he collaborated with Tonedeff to compete in the Napster/Rapstation.com Power to the People and Beats contest. Their track was chosen amoung the top 6 out of over 80 contestants. In July 2000 he placed 2nd out of 100 MC’s in The Source Magazine’s Unsigned Hype Live MC Battle Tournament.
While most MCs could call it a career on those accomplishments, PackFM does not want to be put in that infamous category of MCs who sound good on stage and in the heat of battle, but SUCK at making records. While most of the above mentioned style of rappers put out joints that aren't worth the saliva they project when they rhyme, PackFM is out to prove that there are MCs who can make songs, (and make sense while he's at it). whutduzFMstand4? is a break from the stereotype of slap-happy raps and sugary beats that has flooded the underground/independent Hip-Hop scene in New York City. This MC proves that not only can he give you what you need for the cipher but, he can also provide what you need for your tape deck. If you need to know whutduzFMstand4? pick up this project when it hits the streets. |
