Press Reviews
Making Music. This lot dont mess about; no poncing around with fancy intros here, it's straight into "Kiss Ugliness" with a blast reminiscent of the Wildhearts. The similarities dont stop there, either; the Aliens have a similar pop/punk/metal blend and tough, guitar-heavy sound. I like it-it's exciting, catchy, the vocalist roars away like he really means it, and there's a refreshing simplicity to the sound. Just good songs, with little in the way of unnecessary frills. A three-piece, I find it doubtful they can recreate this sort of punch live. Without that dominating rhythm guitar to underpin the lead riffs, things could fall apart all too easily. Based purely on the evidence here though, I'd say Fireside Aliens, with the assistance of a sympathetic record label, could achieve great things.Reviewer- Andrea Thorn. |
