Artist History Dickforshort formed in 1995 with Scott, Kris, and Mike. They had an unreliable drummer who never wanted to practice, he will remain nameless. Brian joined the band in early '96, and after 2 practices, the band began playing shows. In August of that year, DFS recorded their first seven inch, tragically titled "Grows An Inch," and put it out by themselves in the spring of '97. It is now out of print. They recorded again in the summer, for a second seven inch, titled "What Were We Thinking, Joesh," named after their infamous roadie, that would not come out until the summer of '98, after being scammed by the pressing plant, Fat Trax. DFS recorded their first CD for Labeled Records, "Looking For Answers," in April of '98. They went on their first tour in the summer, and were kicked out of Canada on the way up for a show with Straight Faced and Gob, not to be allowed back for 6 months. They recorded again in January of '99, and the 4 songs are still in limbo, they might be coming out as a 7" on Scott's label in the future. They didn't do much from Novemeber '98 until June '99, they blew the engine on their van. But they went on their first full US tour in the summer of '99. Unfortunately, the booking agent forgot to book the majority of the 3 week tour. He later died in a tragic fall into the Chicago River. So Scott and Brian had to book the majority of the tour in the six weeks preceeding the tour. They did pretty well- got several shows booked. They went all the way out to California to Florida, the majority of the east coast leg was cancelled due to the poor booking. Since the tour, they have been playing local shows.In their five year existance, Dickforshort has played with all across the U.S., with many good bands. In Chicago, they have played with, or so it seems, every Chicago band around.
