    Artist description
Beautiful female voice, Spanish guitar, and gypsy violin all combine to produce the eclectic sound of Desert Moon, whose rhythmic music explores new avenues of new age, pop, and world music. Their songs speak about the desert, love, and personal redemption. With beauty as the ultimate goal in its creation, their first album, "Alone With the Night," is a very personal glimpse at the hearts of its creators. Adam Schydlower is Desert Moon's guitarist, composer, and lyricist. After studying classical, flamenco, and rock, he began writing his own music at the age of seventeen. "Alone With the Night" is Adam's third album, having released one with the nouveau flamenco duo "Shydshock" and one with the gypsy music group "Jitano and the Desert Prophets." His unique style of technique and composition draws on a variety of influences. From the delicate arpeggios of "Alan's Dream" to the rhythmic power of "Afterglow," both Adam's guitar and his lyrics display a variety of moods and textures throughout the album. Marisa Alexander is Desert Moon's vocalist on "Alone With the Night." Marisa is an accomplished actress in the theater, having performed in a variety of plays and musicals. She has also appeared in television commercials, and has an extensive background in a variety of dance styles, including ballet and jazz. Throughout "Alone With the Night," Marisa's hauntingly beautiful voice is featured, delivering every word with both expressiveness and technique. From the intensity of "Afterglow," to the tender vocalisations on "Alan's Dream" and "Nuance," Marisa's voice creates a stunning listening experience for those who hear "Alone With the Night." Alan E. McChesney was Desert Moon's violinist and the artist who created the captivating album cover. Much more than that, however, he was our mentor and our inspiration. He was one of the truly great gypsy violinists, and when he played his instrument, it wept. His untimely passing, just after the completion of "Alone With the Night," left a great void in our lives, but we are proud to have preserved his spirit on our CD. One only needs to listen to the breathtaking melodies of "Alan's Dream" to understand what kind of man he was. Desert Moon is carrying on. Adam Schydlower continues to write music, and a new album is in the works. It will feature new songs and new performers, and will continue what will hopefully be a long tradition of spiritual music from DESERT MOON.
