    Artist History
With a solo piano style somewhere between Chopin and George Winston, David Nevue brings melody and heart back to instrumental music. Perhaps Heartsong Review said it best when they described his music as "hauntingly romantic." Nevue's music introduces us to a wilderness of musical ideas which the listener becomes anxious to explore. Interestingly enough, if you ask Nevue about his musical background he might surprise you. He comes not from a background of polished piano music, but grew up a typical 1980's teenager strongly under the influences of such progressive rock artists as Rush, Pink Floyd, and Kansas. Nevue pursued rock music as a career throughout his college years, playing keyboards for a number of progressive bands. It wasn't until Nevue's college roommate introduced him to the piano music of George Winston that he began to consider a career as a pianist. "Prior to hearing George Winston, my idea of 'solo piano' went no further than classical music, a form a music I've never felt much connection to. Winston's impressionistic style was at that time unlike any music I had ever heard. My roommate played Winston's music all the time, and it just sort of seeped in. I found myself playing around with a few melodies at the piano and I just never stopped."In 1992 Nevue released his solo piano first album, The Tower. This was followed up in 1995 with While the Trees Sleep. In the years since, Nevue has continued releasing new CDs, building upon a small but growing fan base.

    Press Reviews
Review of The Vigil "The Vigil chronicles the passage of a sleepless night, starting at about midnight and ending with the following dawn. Although there is a restless turbulence in many of the songs, there is also a sense of introspection and of a coming peace. The pieces were inspired by events in Nevue’s spiritual life, and are heavily influenced by The Psalms. With or without the religious context, the music is so heartfelt and sincere that not a note seems out of place. This is an exceptionally fine solo piano album, and I highly recommend it! - Kathy Parsons, Wind and Wire Magazine Review of The Last Waking Moment "Tracking this impressive pianist's musical journey has been like peeling an onion. Pull one layer and another emerges. With this outing (The Last Waking Moment), Nevue goes even deeper into his gently modulating stylings to caress originals that invite romance in a wintry setting. Maturation is evident everywhere. Although Nevue still occassionally reveals his debt to pianists like George Winston, his own voice emerges here through statements that are clear, direct, personal and attractive." - Fred Crafts, Eugene Register-Guard Review of The Tower "Join the storyteller of song and prose as he takes you on a journey of betrayal, hatred, love and hope within the lives of a prince, princess, knight and king. The characters in this fairy tale kingdom... connect the majestic, sometimes hauntingly romantic ten pieces Nevue performs. Wonderfully pleasant listening whether occupied or focused." - HeartsongReview of While the Trees Sleep "Nevue's music flows with liquid grace and dances in the light and shadow of the trees he loves... always beneath the winter timbre of his melodies there is the green of spring waiting to grow again." - Heartsong
