    Artist description
I'm a singer/songwriter just having fun doing what I love. I've been in several bands throughout the years and am now concentrating on solo material.I've been influenced by everything from country music to hard rock, but I love ballads and songs that have meaning.I'm trying to fill the void left by bands like Journey and Air Supply and Heart. Great, sometimes really rockin', sometimes really slow music with beautiful vocals.

    Artist History
I've been singing since I was 7. I've played in a few rock bands and won a few talent shows and chances to audition for record labels. I have been less than successful at getting signed. I've not taken any of my solo music to a label yet simply because I'm not sure if that's the way I want to go.I basically (and yes it sounds cliched)want to have fun, and hopefully learn more about song writing and singing as I go on. I hope that at least one of my songs will connect with at least one person and make them think differently about the subject of love or make them feel something inside that will either remind them of a good time in their life or of a time that they chose to move on and change things.
    Instruments

THE MP3 SONGS-BOBBY MILFORD (Independant MP3 CDR) I became pretty interested when I saw that vocalist Bobby Milford from Tennessee, USA was influenced by acts such as JOURNEY, BOSTON and STYX. The music is a little lighter than those acts, but still the 10 songs on his DAM CDR from mp3.com is sounding pretty nice and have a lot of similarities to JOURNEY, but also to STEEL BREEZE, BALANCE and even the classy early 80s calmer Westcoast AOR sound of AIRPLAY, ALLIANCE, RPM can sometimes be noticed. Most of the songs are ballad orientated, but there are happily also a few rockers. Opener "Primitive love" is a nice rocker like IDLE CURE, ALLIES… The following 5 songs are all good calmer AOR ballads a la JOURNEY and early DAKOTA/JERRY KELLY, my favourites of those songs are "Can I hold you" and "Ethereal" (both very AOR based). Towards the end of the CD, we can hear two great rockers and two poppy songs. The rockers are "If I'd only known" and "Nobody but you". "If I'd only known" is a great uptempo early 80s AOR rocker. And "Nobody but you" is a lovely polished early 80s AOR/Radiorocker like 707, BALANCE, AIRRACE and especially STEEL BREEZE (with Kevin Chalfant on vocals). These two rockers are by far the best songs of the CD and if Bobby would make some more of such rockers, then it would become a lot more interesting. The two poppier songs I mentioned are "Running on empty" (westcoast) and closing track "Tearing us apart" (recorded live, a nice piano-ballad). Anyway, Bobby has a very good voice, so that's something to admire and although musically it is not always convincing, I still think fans of AOR a la DAKOTA and STEEL BREEZE will find something they like on this CD. This ten track cd is a pretty good mixture of AOR/pop/rock and ballads that fans of the aforementioned acts should really enjoy. Check out the song 'Sailor's Song (Moon Mistress)', a song similar in structure to Faith Nation, Harlan Cage and Marillion. This is a great atmospheric melodic rock song, where the vocals sound similar to Larry Greene and Fish. 'Nobody But You' is a killer ballad reminding me of Timothy Lewis' 'Hold U 2Night' and is dead catchy, whilst the piano led 'Tearing Us Apart' is the big power ballad. Bobby's vocals are so much like Steve Perry and Steve Augeri on this song that it could easily be Journey themselves. Also in this vein is the superb ballad 'Can I Hold You' which also shows comparisons to Stan Bush and is a great summery AOR ballad with nice keyboards. The pure Journey influences really show on 'Ethereal' which reminds me of 'Feeling That Way' and 'Lights' and pre "Escape" era Journey. and is a fantastic song with great backing harmony vocals. I have to say that the production whilst not perfect does sound very nice and makes this album very enjoyable indeed. Check out the cool laid back 'And Kiss You' for some superb vocal harmonies, whilst this track sounds a little to dated, it does build into a superb song and reminds me of Prior Park and Marillion. 'Forbidden' is a more melodic based song that is almost a ballad, this is the type of haunting melodic ballad that you would find Enuff 'Z Nuff performing. The vocals are once again magic on this song, very much like Donnie Vie. Also very good is the uptempo catchy AOR pop of 'If I'd Only Known' which is one of my favourite songs on the cd and comes across in a wave of Harlan Cage meets Prior Park and Savannah with nice clean guitar melodies. Another spectacular light weight AOR number is 'Running On Empty' which is a superb 80's song along the lines of Hugo, Steel Breeze and Thrills with a touch of Marillion and is pure AOR. The chorus is bright and catchy and Bobby's vocals are superb. The best song is the rocking opening track 'Primitive Love', this song is very catchy and just rocks in the same vein as Stan Bush, The Storm, Carl Dixon, Def Leppard etc.. and is a killer track to singalong with, 'Primitive Love' is one of those songs where you now you've heard it somewhere before. Overall Milford has the potential to go far, the songs are very well performed and diverse, all he needs to do is really concentrate on more rocking songs like Primitive Love' and not so many ballads and then we will have a killer cd that will see Bobby signed without a doubt. Until then this will do nicely and you can check him out at www.mp3.com/ Nicky Baldrian
    Additional Info
The CD is available for sale here on MP3. It has ten original songs, two of which will not be available on any other CD, at least in their present forms. I've had a great time writing, singing and recording these songs and I hope that you will love them as much as I do. You can also hear me singing with a group called Via Satellite that has a web site on MP3.com. I sang with them in the late 80's and just recorded a new single. All the songs we did back then have been remastered and are now available for sale or download on MP3. My new CD on MP3 has 6 new demos that I'm working on. They are demos and not meant to be perfect, but by getting feedback from friends and fans, I hope to make them perfect for my next full length CD.
