Artist History Bankhead was formed in 1994 by singer/songwriter Marnie. While building a following in New York City, Bankhead released their debut EP This Won't Hurt A Bit in 1998. The CD was well received by radio stations and critics alike, with CMJ reporting that it was "no chore to listen to...you'll want to turn up your stereo and rock out."Building on the success of their first record, Bankhead released Carnal Garage on Mr. Tasty Records in 2000. Produced by the band and recorded in just 4 days, this full length CD has been described as "well crafted post punk music" (Hipnosis Magazine) that is "very easy to sink into." (indie-music.com). It made the Top 30 on 24 radio stations and was heard on over 300 stations nationwide.

Bankhead is one of those bands I'm waiting for to become famous. This band has integrity and artistic ingenuity and display it prominently in their album... The band is tight and the vocals are well executed and have just the right edge to them. Nothing is overdone or overblown with this band, everything is authentic and nothing is shallow or self-indulgent…I don't know much about the lead singer Marnie, but she's one of the finest lyric writers I've listened to.
