Artist History
Meet Stella Stephney, skilled as a writer and vocalist, this Chicago-born native combines the soulful sounds of Rhythm & Blues with her own special flavor to produce a melodious sound which mesmerizes and warms the soul. Stella's dynamic live performance captivates even the most scrutinizing audiences.
Music has always been a part of Stella's life, as she comes from a very musically diverse family. Her relatives include the late Clifton Stephney formerly of the Five Crowns (an R&B group of the 70's), the late Charles Stephney (former composer and producer for Earth, Wind & Fire and Minnie Riperton), and Bill Stephney, CEO & Founder of StepSun Music (co-creator of the rap group Public Enemy).
Stella has appeared on ABC's "Steppin' At Club Seven", she received a Dymond Award for her accomplishments in the music industry and she has also performed at numerous benefits to raise money for AIDS research and underprivileged children.
In January, 1996, Stella created the intro for WGCI's (107.5 FM) Bad Boyz show which airs Monday through Friday at 6:00 p.m. The intro played from January 6, 1996 to November 14, 2001. Per Elroy Smith (Program Director for WGCI), the intro was #1 in the country.
Stella is currently focusing her talents on writing. She just recently placed a song with Marvin McIntyre of Marvelous Enterprises (President/CEO of Right Time Records) in Atlanta, GA. I'm sure you will agree from start to finish that Stella's style, grace and sound is something special. |
