Artist description
“One of the finest female rappers in hip hop today” is just one way to describe Mia X. The first female member of the No Limit Army was discovered by Master P while working at a popular New Orleans record store. P took a liking to her sassy vocal style and put her on his 19995 “Down South Hustlers” compilation. Her solo debut, “Good Girl Gone Bad,” was a significant regional success. Mia’s name became nationally known when she added her blistering lyrics to No Limit’s breakthrough smash, Tru’s “Bout It, Bout It.” This was followed by the gold-selling “Unlady Like,” on which Mia mixes gripping gangsta narratives with more personal, introspective songs about motherhood and domestic abuse. The latest effort from No Limit’s first lady, “Mama Drama” walks the same line with a few key differences. “I feel like this time I represented a piece of every woman and I tried to give the guys a little more they can feel.”Check out songs such as “True Bitches” and “Play with P***Y.” “I chose that tittle cause it was shocking but it’s really just a lyrical ass-whupping song to those who say ‘she sounds good for a girl’…I want to be respected as an MC, period.” Here’s one Mama who truly takes no mess! |
