Artist description
My name is Billy Fadel and I am singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. My principal instrument is the guitar. Currently I live in Austin, Texas USA, and play in a band called KANG as well as work on solo material. Before KANG I played in a band called PHILO that had some national success. I find my taste in music constantly evolving. Every couple of years or so I try to re-invent my musical perspective by diving into new genres and taking what I have learned and applying it towards my own writing. Two years ago I decided to fill the cultural void in my life by getting in touch with my ethnic roots. This led me into the world of Arabic/Mediterranean music. Since then, my whole perspective of what makes up melodic and rhythmic form has changed dramatically. I quickly discovered that, while disliking Arabic music as a child, the form was very familiar and every natural to understand. Since then I have slowly added more and more Arabic melody and rhythm into my music while still maintaining American commerciality. Some of the songs posted here were big budget studio recordings during PHILO, & KANG and some are home demos of solo material. I hope you enjoy it… |
