Artist History
Kissandra's Mother was an Opera Singer; therefore she had a strong musical influence at a very early age. Learning Vocals, Piano, Harp and Organ at the age of 6, she then studied ukulele from ages 7-9. Everywhere she went the ukulele went with her. At the age of 10 she begged for a guitar, and taught herself how to play up in the Third Range of the Rocky Mountains. Having a natural ability for music she quickly was soon playing for various friends and various affairs. Falling into the Punk Scene in the early 70's, at the age of 14 she formed her first band in Phoenix, AZ 'SLA aka Charlie’s Angels". Then moving to Dallas, TX in 1979, she fronted her first band with airplay on local radio stations "The Projectors". Various other bands "The Whoremoans", "October", "N3D" (who performed live for a Timothy Leary lecture). Soon faded to gray when she made the move to Hollywood at age 17. Here her musical career took a Hiatus, to her Professional Ballet Career, although she was married to Philip Ribierre for 12 Years (Drummer for Internationally known Band's 'Deprogrammer', 'Sex and Money', 'Lost Highway' and 'Grace land') neighbors such as 'Motley Crew' 'Lita Ford' 'Fear' soon gave Kissandra her love of what she wanted to do. She majored in Music Business in 1987 with honors as "The Bearding Award" for Piano, and "Most Outstanding Student in Music". Her latest bands come from the Dallas, TX 'Deep Ellum' Genre. She was the Guitarist, and Vocalist for local Dallas bands’ Volition', 'Gryphon', a local Deep Ellum based Celtic Rock Band, and also her biggest band in Dallas, Rhythm Guitarist and Lead Vocalist for "KNOW WITCH WHEY!" a local Dallas based Alternative Acoustic Psychedelic Rock Duet created with Long Time Musical Partner Stephen Mace. After her long awaited move back to California in 1999, she is now producing her own music on her own label BloodyKiss. Her Long awaited CD 'Fairy Tales of the Immortal' will be released in June of 2000. Kissandra has made many Guest appearances including the bands; The Loco Gringos; Lithium Christmas, The Devices; Deprogrammer; Toys; Robert Lee Kolb; Willie Willis and the Wild Cats; Willow; 1998 Deep Ellum Arts Festival; The Flying Saucer; (she has no qualms about walking into a music venue and taking over the guitar and mike) Kissandra moved to Chicago, from San Francisco with her Dog, Guitar, Krazy(SO) and (best for last) her son Xan. There she is a large influence and contributor to the Vampire Community. |
