Artist History
Johnson Avenue was conceived in the autumn of 1998 when bass player Greg, guitarist Drue and singer Kathleen were brought together by a mutual friend. What started out as an acoustic project for heavy metal players Drue and Greg (former members of No Justice) and an intriguing side project for Kathleen (former member of Back and 2the Left) soon ignited into a full-fledged original rock band. Consumed by the harder edged music and inspired by the prolific writing, Kathleen bid a bittersweet farewell to her previous band and the trio set in search of a drummer to complete the team. After a few false starts, Johnson Avenue proceeded to evolve with the help of several drummer friends who offered to sit in for gigs. With the help of drummer Wayne Fritz, their CD "Everything You Need" has been completed. And now, FINALLY, they have added the perfect drummer to the band - Matt Culler. He brings his own hard hitting with a funky twist style that was exactly what the doctor ordered. The music of Johnson Avenue covers the spectrum of emotions. From a raw, bluesy hard rock sound to the sweet and soulful sound of heartache. Add a little funk just for fun. Songs cover a variety of topics that include everything from witchcraft, lust and obsession to the pain of child abuse and heartbreak. Johnson Avenue produces an honest, rocking, emotional sound like no other band you've heard. Guaranteed to rock you hard. |
