Artist History
I have played bass with several alternative rock bands, including The Jukin Lizards and the Cove. Both of these bands received heavy airplay back in the late eighties on college and alternative stations. Fun and STuff magazine called the Jukin' Lizards the best band in Birmingham. Maximum Rock and Roll also gave us praise. I put the bass down and began to learn the six string about ten years ago so that I could write the tunes I heard in my head and they required a six string. I have just recently started playing bass again and I am loving every minute of it. I have also produced such low budget bands as Grossest National Product(GNP), Sick Reality,Gary Ryan, Stunt Pig, and Mass Confessions. After growing weary of playing the club scene in bands I took off a on solo tour across the Eastern U.S. playing Native American festivals for more than one year. During this time my wife and I lived in a award winning Tipi she had made or the occasional hotel room. We chose to stay in primitive campgrounds or private land of friends. The song "Hawk" was one that I wrote during this time and performed live to thousands of people, just me and my acoustic and of course my wife singing back-up. I will be adding more acoustical tunes from this era for everyone to hear. They have a very special meaning to me. My eyes light up when I talk about these times. These were the times that have made my life all worth while. However..I continue to press on into the future and write and record in my spare time. This is my love and my passion...making my life feel complete. I think it is great that there is a site like MP3.com for listeners to hear artists tunes. Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you enjoy what you hear. Please feel free to email me with any comments and if you would...sign my guestbook to let me know you took the time to listen. Peace. |

Press Reviews
"Produced in his Award Winning Tipi the songs of Buttermilk are more than Classic Rock between 80's and new millenium. They are a real pleasure to listen to. All ingredients of a professional act in this song. They have left behind the shadow of comparison to other bands. They are Buttermilk Platform and they will make other artists copy them."-Alhambra ________
"Happy"....."A good song with a classic rock feel. The lyrics are good and the style of music just takes you back. The song writing style is a little more modern than that of the classic rock genre, but that's what makes the song worthy of the download no matter what your music of choice is." Gunther G. The Global Muse++++++++++++++++Look at Me - ButterMilk Platform A good rocking number from a talented Alternative Band. Haunting vocals, and introspective sound to the guitar playing. This song asks the questions, but the answers are left for us to find. Nicely done. Turn it up.*BANKER*
________"STAGNANT WATER"______"I like the jangly acoustic edge, reminds me of a CSN & Y kind of thing. Nice backups from Dixie, too. The song works real well with the natural sound and feel of the drum track, you've got that down to a science!
Organic and folky with a Western flair, a real TX sound. I am standing on the cracked earth in a dried up stream bed in the middle of the desert somewhere, listening to Les strum his Guild acoustic guitar, wishing for a cold drink of water (not the stagnant kind either)!"

"Les, I just had a chance to listen to 'Stagnant Water'. I never listen to closely to lyrics, but I certainly felt the melancholy mood of the song. I thought Dixie's backup was excellent, really showing her professional experience. I was most taken by the extended guitar solo at the end. Very expressive of your feelings when recording this song"=Jim Reeder www.mp3.com/jimreeder

"I really like Stagnant Water... I like this introspective side. The feel is really nice. I like the acoustic guitars and the electric brings out a nice depth. The vocals sound great."TK
