Artist description
Ethereal Spawn combines extremity, intensity and melody into a form of music which can best be called melodic death metal. The band consists of five members who are each and all putting a lot of their time and effort into this band. Early 2000 they released a self-financed 9-song CD, called "Ablaze in Viral Flames", which includes a cover of Dark Tranquillity's "Punish my Heaven". |

Artist History
The idea of Ethereal Spawn was thought up by Chris and Peter during the Dynamo Open Air festival of 1998. The band's current strong line-up didn't come to be until the end of 1999 though. One CDemo has been released so far and lots of gigs have been and still are being done throughout The Netherlands. |

Press Reviews
"The Hague might have once been the beat-city of Holland and Anouk and Kane can be seen daily on MTV, the city has never had a big metal-scene. Still there are a couple of bands from this city who are worth listening to. Blo.Torch is the best example, Acrid isn’t bad at all either and a band like Reborn should have already made a CD a long time ago of course. Ethereal Spawn is the latest acquisition from this city. The band play a pretty complex mixture of Swedish oriented ‘blackened’ death metal with lots of power and melody. The band is obviously inspired by the older and more complex work of Dark Tranquillity and also plays a cover from these known Swedes besided eight of their own songs. The Dark Tranquillity-connection doesn’t stop here, because their cover has been designed by Niklas Sundin (guitarist of D.T.). So the CDemo can be called professional from various points of view, although the songs could be arranged a bit better and musically they occationally drop a small stitch here and there. Still I hear enough quality to justify the purchase and I think this band has got a great future ahead of them. The CDemo costs 11 US$ for people living in Europe and 12,50 US$ for people living anywhere else in the world. It can be ordered by sending your snail-mail address to etherealorders@hotmail.com." - Aardschok July 2000 |
