    Artist description
The term “accomplished musician” only scratches the surface in a description of Bill Farrish. The range and breadth of his musical prowess are yet to be defined as he continues to write, perform and produce music. Bill was born in 1962 in St. Albans in Queens, a borough of New York City which had been the home of many jazz greats. Bill began playing the guitar at 12, imitating the styles of renowned guitarists, including Buddy Guy. By 17 he became heavily influenced by the likes of instrumentalists with no particular association with the guitar. Bill studies his own instrument in relation to the music of Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and the immortal John Coltrane. Although he was self-taught, Bill added to his arsenal of natural ability by receiving a formal musical education. He earned a Bachelor of Music Performance, at Five Towns College in New York and endeavored in private studies with JoAnne Brackeen, Joe Monk, Peter Rogine and Mark Elf. Over the next two decades Bill would make his musical bones playing live, wherever his guitar could be heard. His unique style and creative phrasing he developed caught the ears of many locally and nationally known musicians. Among them were Bernard Purdie, Cecil Bridgewater, David Garibaldi, Jimmy Halperin, Ray Alexander, The Dennis Bram Quartet and Bob Emry. Bill worked at some of New York City’s top venues for live music, including, just naming a few, The Village Lantern, Opal, Mikells, the Spin Jazz Caf and The Trocadero. Bill picked up work in Off-Broadway productions of Little Shop of Horrors, Man of LaMancha, Hair and Tapestry. He appeared on radio and TV, including the popular local program The Carl Bruno Show. Carl said, “Bill is one of the most musically creative guitarists I've ever heard. The ideas flow from him effortlessly.” It was praise that would be echoed wherever Bill moved his fingers across a fretboard and it led to a full-length documentary on the man and his music, Raven Productions’ widely acclaimed An Evening With Bill Farrish. When the new technology offered artists a theater of their own, Bill began to post his music on the internet and write and record more and more. Including his work-in-progress CD, Life In The City, he has released seven highly popular CDs, each covering another aspect of his broad interpretation of music, much of it original. He has also become a collaborator with many other successful internet-based artists, including Remo, Mike Fijal and Strangecloud. His compositions and productions also continually appear on compilations available at web sites. An MCR recording artist, Bill’s official website is http://takeoff.to/BillFarrish is a stunning presentation of his talent and a thorough introduction to one of contemporary music’s finest composers, musicians and intrinsic talents. They are nice and spacey.... what the mayor would classify as "way cool"#### Note to the Community --- this player is an excellent player--- a lot of classical groove guitar playing in a jazz vein. It is definitely mood music---but it is some of the best that is out there. Get out of overdrive.... and snap on some introspective inner space...You ain't going to be jumpin around the house listenin to Bill .....but you will hear guitar playing with "the feel" only one in 6 billion has....and you'll like it."Neal Bond - CentralAudio.com---------------------------------------------------------------------------------"N.Y.-based guitarist splits time between reverently played jazz standards and his own brand of cerebral synth jazz. ......... shows originality and promise".www.listen.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------------" ...........Improv tracks, original and barely produced. It's Zen recording time, kids and this talented duo pulls it off. I have always admired great technicians in recording, but when great players are thwarted by recording techniques, they sometimes short themselves. .......,Farrish and Radus are able to fly on their axes and the musical axis and the result is pleasing, moody, smooth and great with a cup of ultra-strong java".-Frank Cotolo, - Pure Reviews--------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Un Jazz dimprovisation dont la charge motionnelle essouffle lme par tant de finesse ltat brut" ......(A jazz of impovisation whose motionelle load blows the heart per such an amount of smoothness in a rough state.) .www.francemp3.com---------------------------------------------------------------------------------"keep your groove going with this hit..... so much flavor here...... more jazz to the ounce" - Waterboy--------------------------------------------------------------------------------a smooth -warm flow.. keep up the good work!
