Artist History
At age 14, a prodigious guitarist in the Sierra Nevada foothills began showing up in local clubs and coffee shops, stunning listeners with a brand of blues that leaned heavily on the styles of Robert Johnson, Ray Charles and Eric Clapton. His fretwork and soulful voice gained him a strong following and after several years of refining his gift he was snatched up by Fair Oaks Music, a Sacramento-based record label, and teamed with bass player Ian Kilpatrick, and drummer Baron Miller - thus, the birth of Will Derryberry Band.
The band has proven to be an explosive and popular combination, with Derryberry leading the way with blazing, emotion-packed solos and Miller and Kilpatrick keeping a tight, surging groove. The trio is "a solid unit playing blues beyond their years. Imagine what could come next," says Lloyd Spy, of Spy Promotions.
The band is a hit at blues festivals and prestigious blues clubs around the country. One industry observer remarked, "You feel as if you're embarking on the next big thing when seeing them play live."
Recently, the Will Derryberry Band released Demonstration, their first independent CD which demonstrates these young blues-men hitting their stride. Demonstration brings together the powerful blend of blues, jazz, rock and gospel that fuel the band's live shows and makes a strong case for why these inspired musicians are America's up-and-coming blues trio.
